At first we went down to Salcombe and saw ten houses in one day. One of them caught our eye. It was called Coastguard Cottage. It was beautiful – right by the water. Unfortunately it got sold. We were just about to give up looking until next year when suddenly a lovely house came up for sale on the East Portlemouth side (the other side of the estuary). It was perfect. It had a lovely garden, beautiful view and even better, it had a mooring. We instantly fell in love with it.
Welcome to our blog about our mission to buy a cottage by the sea. It all started in August 2011 when our friends Zoe and Armand took us camping in Salcombe. Salcombe ticked all our boxes: It was in England - accessible without having to fly, it is beautiful, it is perfect for sailing, everyone is friendly, when we came home (not very willingly) we started looking for a house. Usually whenever we come home from holidays we look for properties as a joke, but this time we weren't joking!
How exciting - godd luck!
